What's in My Makeup Bag?

Makeup bag

Lately I've been using my gold Ipsy glam bag as my go-to makeup bag because I love the color and the size is great for all the products I use on a daily basis.
I'm usually on the run so if I can't get a full face of makeup at home, I'll use most of the products in this bag before going to work or running errands.

My Quick (mini) Manicure Routine

Hey guys! Being that today is Mani Monday I wanted to show you guys a quick tutorial of how I personally do my own nails at home. I always get them done at a salon but I change my own polish like twice a week so I've gotten pretty good at doing them really fast while still making them look good.

My Top 3 Eyeshadow Palettes

Recently I've been wearing a lot of different color combinations on my eyes as opposed to the neutral looks that's I usually do. With it being fall and all I've decided to do a lot of darker looks. I've been using these three palettes for all of these looks.

1. Anastasia Beverly Hills World Traveler Couture palette
I've been using the Morocco and Fudge for a really autumn-y combination that literally reminds me of the leaves. In this picture I had this makeup on during the day time so I did not go too dark on the outer corner of the eye. However, I always make my eyeshadow darker or more dramatic once night time comes or I get off work lol.

3. The Lorac Pro pallete 2 is amazing because of their bold colors. The colors that I've been using a ton lately is Jade and Rosé. I have brown eyes so the green makes my eyes pop out more. Using these 2 colors make for an easy and fast look but if you want to make it more dramatic for a nighttime look then you can use the color Cocoa to smoke out the outer corner of the eye.

3. The Naked Smoky palette is made to give you dramatic looks and the awesome thing is that you can get brown or grey looks. I've been going for a golden but smoky look using the colors Dirtysweet for the inner corner, Radar for the lid and then Whiskey for the outer corner of the lid. This look is really metallic but if you haven't noticed I love using a really matte color as well as a metallic shadow to finish it off. This picture is also for the daytime so I didn't go too dark with the color Whiskey, however, for the night time look you can always go as dark as you want.

If you have any of these 3 palettes and have looks you'd like to share or if you recommend another palette please comment below !

Vacation on a budget !

Today I will be flying out to Los Angeles, California which happens to be one of my favorite places ever! I would spend my summers there as a kid however, I haven't been there as an adult so I cannot wait til I arrive. My boyfriend and I are going to be staying there for 6 days and although at first we were nervous because six days seems like a lot we decided to go for it anyways. Many people always ask me how is it that I am able to "afford" to go on vacations while having all these other bills to pay but it's really not that difficult as long as you're able to cut costs in other areas in order to be able to vacation with out spending a ton of money.

1. Stay with friends or at a very cheap hotel/hostel.
I personally don't know how I'd feel about staying at a hostile but I have heard great things about them. I also found a couple in the LA area on Airbnb for only $30-$40 a night! If you are traveling on your own or with a friend that might seem like a great option, especially since you shouldn't plan on actually spending time in the hostel other than to shower and sleep. Another great option is to stay with a friend or family member if possible. Luckily, we have a friend in LA who we will be staying with for 2 days. Not only does that cut costs down for a hotel but we will also have our own personal tour guide for that weekend. On the rest of our nights there we will be staying at an Airbnb in downtown LA since we already have activities planned in that are.

2. Travel during "off season"
This means traveling during slower months such as late September through late May or early June. The reason this is off season is because this is the time kids are in school meaning families take less vacations. I have taken 2 vacations this year and both were in off season months (January and May) and the weather was still pretty great. Flights are also cheaper and there will be flash sales for tickets which means you can get a roundtrip ticket for less than $100!

3. Don't eat at expensive places
When I travel I am all about the food. I love to eat new foods and I try to stick to the small authentic places because they taste better and it's a lot cheaper. I use the app Yelp to find a place near where we are staying that also has great reviews.

4. Use public transportation
I grew up in the suburbs so I am used to driving everywhere but when I travel I stick to using public transportation or Uber because it's a lot less expensive than taking a taxi everywhere. Also since I am under 25 years old, renting a car is also really expensive so I never go that route.

5. Do activities that are either free or almost free
When I went to New York I visited the Met museum and while in line I noticed it said that there was a $20 recommended donation. Then the people in front of us told us that the museum was technically free but that you could make a donation of even $1 in order to get in. We paid $5 each. There are other activities that you can find for either cheap or free you just have to make sure to look it up beforehand especially if money is an issue.

My Top 3 Drugstore Foundations !

Earlier this year I started wearing liquid foundation regularly. Before then, I used to stick to my powder foundation but ever since I started the liquid I can't seem to get enough. I feel like it makes my makeup look well put together more so than the powder. Don't get me wrong I still love powder foundation and haven't ditched it altogether but I use it mainly when I'm in a rush and cannot spend time doing a full face of makeup.
Before I started using a foundation I spent a lot of time reading reviews on which liquid foundation was good for combination skin since my t-zone is oily and the outer part of my face can get really dry.

The first foundation I tried was the Infallible by L'Oreal in the shade Sun Beige. This was the more popular foundation at the time I was looking for one and since I already love L'Oreal products I decided to start with this one. I wore it for about 2 months and although I liked how matte it made my face look I also felt like it would dry my skin out. I would even mix it with about 3/4 foundation and 1/4 of the ELF tinted moisturizer since I needed some spf over the summer and it was still too dry. As the day went on I also felt like it would settle into the creases in my face which I did not like at all! I still think it was a great foundation to start with but I'm happy that I've found others that I love a lot more.

The next one I purchased is the Fit Me! Matte + Poreless foundation by Maybelline in the color Warm Honey and really love it because it's matte but still has like a natural finish. It is for oily to normal skin so I just think that it pairs up with my skin type really well. It also lasts all day long with out wearing off which is a huge plus. The packaging is also really nice and pretty compared to other drugstore foundations.

Lastly, I have the Revlon Airbrush Effect foundation in the color Medium Beige. So far I've noticed that the consistency is less thick than the other 2 foundations but I think that might be a good thing. I bought it a few days ago so I don't think I can make a decision on which I like best yet but if I did have to choose I'd pick the Maybelline Matte + Poreless foundation.

Do you use on of these already? If not are there any foundations that you would recommend?
